Don't Sacrifice Greatness For the Acceptance Of People You Don't Even Like.

The cost of greatness is glory — at least in the short-term.

When you making decisions based on how you look or how the situation will appear to other people that you want to impress, you're putting yourself in a position where success is impossible to achieve.

You have to do things that don't feel like they are awesome or look like they're awesome in order to achieve monumental feats of greatness that are truly awesome.

That’s the truth.

The yucky stuff that success requires is directly at odds with the pretty stuff that everyone else around you looks at when they measure your success.

How many post have you seen on social media where some guru is standing next to a fancy car telling you why you deserve the best things in life?

And it's not just social media. It's all around you.

Your relationships suck because you spend more time pretending like they don’t suck then just working on them so that they don’t suck.

You replace small and steady improvement with flashy, empty feel good theatrics. Everyone else around you claps and nods, wondering what's wrong in their own life.

The secret is that we're all flawed and that achieving greatness requires digging into the miserable details that most often get left undone.

You can't make decisions better if you're focused on immediate glory.

If you're focused on how things appear. It gums up the works. And you're the one who suffers the most. To be honest, no one really cares if your life is perfect. In fact, most people would rather that you didn't have a perfect life.

After all, their life isn't perfect and they seem to be working really hard at it. Why should you get a break?

Don't let the pursuit of glory cost you greatness. Don't make mistake of pursuing appearances over milestones.

Don't swap long term, wildly enjoyable success for the appreciation and acceptance of people that you don't even really like or care about.

Make better decisions. Make decisions better.
