Finding Yourself Awesomely Surrounded.

Surround yourself with people who make you better.

You already know you shouldn't be hanging around negative people. You already know the impact they have on your momentum and your mental health.

They crush your spirit and drain you of your energy and drive for success.

But who are the people you are surrounding yourself with to take you in the opposite direction?

Think about that for a moment.

Who are your go-to people? The cornerstones of your daily progress.

Surround yourself with people who are always going to lift you higher.

Those people don't need to be the same for now and always. In fact, that group is likely to change over time. As your needs change, your people change. As your problems evolve so will your circle of awesome advisors.

So how do you know who to surround yourself with? It's about asking the right questions.

And knowing what you want.

Looking for someone to help you take your business to the next level?

Here are a few questions to ask them:

  1. How did you land your current position? Achieve your current success?
  2. Think back ten years ago. Did you envision this is where you would be?
  3. Can you tell me about a time when you had a difficult people problem? How did you handle it?
  4. How do you handle failure? What have you learned from it?
  5. What’s the most valuable leadership lesson you have learned along the way to getting here?
  6. Tell me about a recent problem in your life and how you recovered and overcame it?
  7. Was there ever a business opportunity you pushed for and got, but you weren’t 100% qualified to achieve success?

Looking for a mentor to help you be a better leader?

Here are a few questions to ask them:

  1. What would you do differently in your personal life if you were given the opportunity?
  2. When is breaking the rules something that is acceptable for you to do?
  3. How do you approach the unknown?
  4. What values are you committed to? And why do those values mean so much to you?
  5. What do you do to live a life that feels balanced and fulfilled?
  6. What do you do to challenge and continuously improve your underlying beliefs and assumptions?
  7. What dreams and goals inspired you to succeed in the first place?

And the list goes on and on.

Successful people are maniacal about gathering even more successful people around themselves to make them better.

How amazing would it be to wake up and find yourself awesomely surrounded by great people?

That won't happen automatically. It's going to take a plan. And some persistence.

So get started. You're going to need all the help you can get.
