Changing The Stories You Tell Yourself.
The stories you tell yourself about yourself determine the results you achieve in life.
Think about all the different stories you use to tell others about where you are in life. And why and how you got there.
Think about the last time you had to describe your personal situation. You probably used a phrase like this: "It's a long story." You might have even started your explanation by saying: "Well, here's the backstory."
The facts haven't changed. Your reality hasn't changed.
It's the story you've been telling yourself that is holding you back.
Your story might be that no matter how hard you try, you never seem to be successful.
Your story might be that your life was meant for you to suffer. That you're not supposed to have good times.
Your story might be that money is hard to make. That you're not one of those people who can be trusted with lots of money.
Your story might be that life is out to get you. That no matter what you do, other people are going to take advantage of you and steal your joy.
You're not just telling yourself one story. You're telling yourself thousands of stories about yourself.
These stories are the autobiography of your future.
Whether you achieve success or not directly depends on the stories you're telling yourself. Right now.
Think about that. The stories you repeat to yourself are the limits you are putting on your success.
Instead of just explaining that you tried and failed, you tell a story about how life treated you unfairly. That limits your ability to be successful in the future.
Instead of just trying something different or reaching out for help, you revert back to your story. And it's a depressing, downward spiral. The more you fail, the better you get at telling the story of your failure. About explaining it away. About pretending like it was done to you. Against you.
A better story means a better future. fewer limits. And more happiness.
So what sort of story should you be telling yourself? In truth, your story depends upon the direction you want to take your life and the struggles and weaknesses you are currently battling to improve.
You might've been telling yourself limiting stories from an emotionally crippling event that has happened decades ago.
You need to rewrite that story with something positive.
You might have failed financially or in a relationship. And even though that happened months or years ago you still tell a story to yourself that limits your ability to create massive wealth and find love.
If you want to change your future, you have to change the stories you repeat to yourself each day.

You can't change your mindset without first changing the stories you tell yourself.
