As Silly As Wet Sweaters In the Sahara.
So many of the obstacles in your way are there because you put them there. You didn't just put them in your way, you defend them being there. You argue and fight to make sure that they are there. And then turn around and complain that "life isn't fair" -- complaining that you seem to have more obstacles than everyone else around you.
That's because you're good at making stupid decisions and then finding logical arguments for why what you did is actually going to help you in the long run.
Its like wearing wet sweaters in the Sahara.
The last thing your body needs for survival in the middle of the blazing hot sun is a wool sweater to trap in your heat and make you dehydrate faster.
But you might justify the fact that you made a stupid decision to wear a wool sweater by deciding to put some water on your wool sweater. After all why wouldn't you want to be a little bit cooler in the middle of the hot sun.
But that position becomes quite silly -- and might kill you. The obvious fix is simply to take off the sweater -- wet though it may be.
Think about the sweaters you have on in your life.
Do you find it impossible to live on a budget? Are you unable to control your emotions? Do you make excuses about why you shouldn't be working hard? What's your wool sweater?
You can always find a good excuse for doing what you're doing right now. You can always find a decent explanation for not changing. But sometimes those "good excuses" become your biggest weakness -- and a bit of silliness looking back.
- Instead of justifying jealousy, fix it.
- Instead of being wasteful, fix it.
- Instead of spending out of control, fix it.
- Instead of being lazy, fix it.
Start tearing down the obstacles you've placed ahead of you.
Take off your wool sweater. Stop making success more difficult than it already is.
Go be awesome.
