Don't Hire Another Sales Expert. Ever.
The business landscape is full with experts, consultants, and gurus all with amazing insights on how you can grow your business. And they each come with a long line of successful case studies and customer success stories. Make no mistake. These guys are pretty good. Some of them have been doing what they do for many decades. They know how to help you generate revenue. And that's what you think you need. You think that if you can fix your cash-flow situation that everything else will take care of itself.
So hiring a professional to help you dig your way out of this situation seems only natural. But it's probably the last thing you need to be doing right now.
You're too scared right now.
Your gut reaction is that the expert knows something that you don't know. You know that you're not dumb. And you know that experts don't have a "magic-business fairy wand" that they can wave and everything is OK. But in the back of your mind you are thinking that if you bring in a hot-shot with a "7 step business development strategy" that your problems will go away. At least you'll get pointed in the right direction.
But that plan always seems to fail. You don't get the results that you think you should be getting. Instead of getting pulled out of the ditch, you find yourself in a deeper hole.
More confused. Upset. And feeling more powerless than ever to truly turn things around.
You're focused on the wrong thing.
You want temporary relief. You want someone to help you fix your business issues. But that's not enough to make a difference long term.
To fix your situation you need to change how you think about what you do. That's where things go wrong from the start.
You're not a leader, a manager, CEO, or a senior executive. Forget about the title you have listed on the organization chart. You are a warrior. And so you have to stop asking yourself business questions and ask yourself how a warrior would fix the problem. How would a conqueror battle this challenge?
The answer is always the same and simple.
You gather together the wounded and raise your swords together against the challenge. You push back in situations where failure threatens. You tend to the wounded around you. You lift their spirits. And rally the army. You stand in front of the enemy and spit in the face of danger.
And as the enemy rises against you, you rush violently into the onslaught. Not fearless. But courageous. Another day. Another opportunity to break past the challenges that threaten to enslave you.
Day after day after day after day. You fight. You rush the embankments. And you stand back up when you are thrown down. It's that simple. You stand back up. And you fight.
Because that is what a warrior does. And that is what you are.
Start acting like it.
