Knowing What you Want…

Life comes at you fast and you can spend a massive amount of time surviving rather than pursuing your destiny....  It can be a sad part about being a leader.  There is always a tremendous amount of effort going on but at the end of a day, week, or year you can have an empty spot in your soul...

I had lunch with a friend named Jill Stelfox a week ago.  Jill is an amazing lady and inspiring entrepreneur who has this amazing gift for "letting go"...  In my lunch meeting with her I listened as she explained how at times she just had to accept reality and not let it rock her world.

Now don't think that Jill is a push-over (I am laughing here...).  She is a tough girl that built a hundreds-of-millions-of-dollars company.  Pretty bad-ass, in fact.  Her latest venture was a project that created communication around kids being safe in schools.  She got screwed.  I can't go into all the details, but inspite of everything there was nothing she could do about it -- NOTHING!  She had to let it go...

That certainly is a lesson for all of us.  Not all of life is within our control.  We can not always WILL our way to success!  Sometimes we lose when we should have won...

BUT you have to always keep yourself focused on what you expect of yourself and your future.

Here are my qualifications for getting involved in a venture:

  • Must be able to change the world...
  • Must be surrounded by people smarter than me....
  • Must nurture my soul...

Think about your own list of "goal qualifications"...  Know what you want...
