Getting Your Executive Picaso On…

Over a year ago my wife purchased 3 very large oil originals... After a year of being in storage, I had them framed and hung in our house. (By the way, the process of framing was amazing with all the choices and turned out quite beautifully...)

As I walk through my house and see these different pieces of art, I usually take a second and pause to admire them. I could never in a million years paint such amazing artwork...
EVER!! They really are that beautiful!

(NOTE: They are not by Thomas Kinkade but I happen to like his art so I included a pic....)

I am reminded that somethings in life are an "art" while others reflect the "science" of research. Both require practice, training, trial-and-error, and success -- do does the life of an executive...
Think about that for a minute! We ALL have areas of business where we seem to naturally be artists... We can apply the unique strokes that define creative genius. Then there are the rest of our daily chores where it's just a lot of hard work... This last "make it into a science" category is where I seem to spend most of my life...
  • A lot of reading about stuff I need to learn...
  • A confusing mix of OTJ training...
  • A mysterious bit of trial and error...
Things that were confusing some time ago are not as challenging as they used to be. In fact, I have learned some of these things so well that I can now start applying my own strokes of art to them...

I think that's how life works...
